Costco had it $300 off last week. I had it in my hands and my work buddy brought his SUV, but I just couldn't pull the trigger because when I move in a few months I want something larger. Once it's bought, the money's gone...

Dave Zatz

Comments on

The GV42 is currently onsale at Costco for $1299.

Brian

Comments on

So what would be better - this new Vizio LCD or the existing Vizio 42 inch plasma that costco already has?

I'm wondering what everyone's opinion is...

jason

Comments on

I went through two GV42L's before I gave up and got my money back. The first one had TERRIBLE back light bleed-through on the bottom left of the screen. It wasn't just minor back light bleed-through, it was pure white in some areas. The 2nd unit had a pretty uneven back light in the upper-right and lower-bottom - not as bad as the first unit by any means, but still - not great. The 2nd unit also had an audio popping problem while switching between analog cable channels. I'm wondering how common these issues are (if at all). I figured I'd just wait until Christmas time and see if they have improved production on them, or maybe even bring a 1080p offering to the table.

Dustin

Comments on

Bought last week at Costco for $1,299. Great picture with HD signals (particularly 720p) through my comcast cable box. OK (but not great)image on the standard definition channels and my old Philips DVD player (I am waiting to upgrade to Blu-Ray). No problems setting up. Great options for adjusting picture to suit your taste.

Mo

Comments on

I purchased a unit last week. I've had to play with the color settings a bit, but I'm really happy with this unit. Initially I had it connected via component cable, and then HDMI. No configuration issues. Menus are easy to navigate and self explanatory. Costco sells a wall mounting unit which allows the Vizio to tilt up/down for about $80. Very similiar to a unit at Best Buy for almost twice that. At $1399 I'm a happy camper.

david abramson
