Well this answers some questions but leaves us wanting more. Lik-Sang has
a product page up for a Microsoft branded XBOX 360 HDMI cable. While there isn't any pics of the cable they do have a product description up that matches what a HDMI cable is all about. This makes tons of since now that the XBOX 360 HD DVD player is a reality. What's funny is that we would have thought that the HDMI cable would have been announced
before the HD DVD player but there wasn't even any mention of this last week at E3. We still don't know if this is real or not but it looks good.

This is from the product page on Lik-Sang.
It says "Official Microsoft Xbox 360 Component HDAV Cable" which would imply it is still using the Component out but with an HDMI adapter?
Similar to using a DVI->HDMI adapter.
It could be a typo and I'm hoping this is not the case.

It could also mean that it carries the audio cable seperately. Most sound systems do not have the capability of the HDMI so that audio would have to still be sepeated.

DVI->HDMI wouldn't be the same, because in cases of DV->HDMI it's digital to digital. HDMI is based on DVI so this makes sense. Compenent is not digital so unless the cable has a dongle attached to it and is digitizing analog video on the fly, the HDMI cable will be seperate from component. Is seems likely that there is digital video output in the 360 that isn't being used by the current cable. Microsoft has stated that in the future they would offer HDMI, so this cable is not a total suprise.

I'm totally guessing here, but I would guess that the HDCP portion of the puzzle is handled in the HD-DVD player add-on itself, with the licensing hardware there. For this reason, I don't see the player coming in less than $250.

Unfortunately I believe this is fake. Lik-Sang has had that cable listed on their site for months now, yet no one else seems to have information regarding it. I REALLY hope MS does release an HDMI cable for their console/HD-DVD add on, but I don't think this is it.
