So no Apple plasma HDTV after all :(

Blah blah blah, laptop, blah blah, iPod, blah blah blah, dual core Intel processor. No 50" plasma screens, no UDI. The best news we got was DVI out on the new laptops, no word if that will include HDCP, but unless they'll upgrade your laptop to Blu-ray or HD-DVD, who cares?
I'm so disappointed, check out the rest of the coverage of the Jobsy one's keynote on Engadget and TUAW.

The laptops are pretty sweet. Whenever I get the need to upgrade my iBook I'll be getting one of those. As for now I'm planning to save up for a new Power Mac once those go to the Intel chips.
Personally I like the new power connector on those laptops. Very slick indeed.

About time I see that someone else was under-whelmed
as I was. I was really looking forward to a Media Center MAC Mini.

I hate to say it, but Apple laptops (the PowerBook line at least, not the iBooks), have had DVI outputs for about 3 years now. So I guess the announcement just got one notch less exciting for you from an HDTV perspective.
It's great news for those of us who use Apple laptops though!

I was also dissapointed that there is no apple media center. But the year just started so maybe next time. Over the next year we should see all the mac replaced with intel versions. With any luck the Mac Mini replacement should include FrontRow and a remote. It should have enough power to be the media center that we want and playback HD.
As for the new MacBook pro. I put in my order earlier today.

If Jason O'Grady's irrelevance in the Mac world was apparent before, it's certainly glaring now.
Keep wishing for your "Powerbook Nano" dude!

Yeah, I too was going to ask what you thought was exciting about the DVI out, am I missing something since every PowerBook (except the first round of 12" PowerBooks) since April 29, 2002 has had DVI out?

The new iMacs support a second Monitor with an expanded Desktop with their DVI port now, thats a first for the iMac. It support digital resolutions of up to: Digital resolutions up to 1920 x 1200. iMac hooked up to a HDTV as a second monitor? Sweet...
