You're wrong when you say "so far there is no announcement from Microsoft that it will ever support HDMI." Check here: http://interviews.teamxbox.com/xbox/1190/Xbox-360-Interview-Todd-Holmdahl/p1/ Microsoft "...will provide an HDMI for our customers when it makes sense." Not massively different from what you said, but better than nothing.
